Here are some suggestions and questions from students who have been through our
program.
What AIMHA
Graduates Do After School:
WOW! Times are changing! Acceptance of massage therapy increases every
year. New opportunities abound in the rapidly growing health and wellness
field. Due to the extensive training in medically oriented massage therapy
as well as the subtleties of energy work, AIMHA graduates fit into a variety
of settings ranging from private practice, rehabilitation work with medical
community referrals, chiropractic clinics, working with athletes, stress
reduction centers, nursing homes, working at various resorts, spas and
health clubs, and on luxury cruise ships. The possibilities are as vast
as your imagination. AIMHA frequently receives requests from businesses,
doctors, athletes and individuals seeking qualified massage therapists.
AIMHA proudly refers its graduates to fulfill these requests.
Students supply
their own sheets
You will need linens, but you do not need to buy expensive ones. In Level
1, whatever you have around the house or plain white sheets will do fine.
When you are in the Community Clinic during Level 2 we will ask you to
be more color coordinated and professional.
We recommend simple greens to wash sheets. Harsh chemicals such as bleach
can irritate your client's skin. Simple green also helps our environment.
Products that are environmentally friendly are preferred. You will need
your own lubricants. We use Biotone products because they are sensitivity
tested and proven safe for all skin types. You can buy them at school.
Water bottles with writing on them? If you come to visit the school you may see a student
walk by with a word written on their water bottle such as "love,
joy, peace, compassion, or happiness. This is part of our radical
self care training. You blood is 70-80% water and has the same
crystalline structure. When you write an inspiring word on
your water bottle it empowers the water to carry positive light
into your body and giving it more resources. This may sound
crazy, but there is actually a study that proves water is affected
by the power of intent. I found this really interesting check
out Dr. Emoto¹s website. Water

Working full time?
If you plan on working full time you may find it challenging more in Level
II than in Level I. I did. I worked hard in school and I taught as much
as I could to my friends. It helped me learn more and remember it. I
know that everything I learned helps me with my job and my attitude about
my life in general. If you must work full time and attend Level II get
lots of rest, drink lots of water and take your time as you do not want
to burn yourself out. Practice all elements of your radical
self care training. (The voice of experience!) This is when you will
need to put this training into action the most.
Parking, pay the meters
Make sure to keep your quarters handy to pay meters on the street on the
Saturdays and during the day on weekdays. Evenings and Sundays are free.
Students have gotten tickets for un-paid meters. It is your responsibility
to park responsibly.
Ask questions?
At some schools asking a question may be intimidating. At AIMHA they encourage
your learning and your personnel health and growth. Always ask for help
and advice either from staff or students. You will find it easy to make
friends with your classmates and rely on their support. AIMHA can become
a home away from home in many ways because AIMHA encourages compassion
and support. If you have questions about any client always ask one of
the LMT's and they can assist you in making the right decision. You are
never alone at AIMHA.
Health
Health is being proud of who you are. Being true to yourself, your
body, knowing and practicing truth and standing firm in those beliefs.
to keep the mind healthy it must be exercised, just as the physical.
It must be fed with things that are beneficial to growth. Health
is being free from the desire to judge others and even more importantly
yourself. those who judge others, judge themselves, those who fear
others fear themselves, those who have anger towards others are
angry with themselves. If you can love and take care of yourself
then you can do the same for others. Accepting yourself is health.
Moving forward and seeing all experiences and people in your life
as gifts and lessons is health. Also remembering that you are living
the life that you chose to and putting faith in the universe while
appreciating the sky, the earth, water, air, plants, animals and
people for what they are.
Stress
Stress is being attached to emotions, words, thoughts patterns that
are not beneficial to growth. Not breathing, not enough water, anxiety,
harmful environments, unhealthy eating patterns and foods, addiction,
forgetting who you are and what you are good at and what you what
to accomplish -is all stress. Only seeing what you don't like and
forgetting that these are just reflections of yourself. Judging yourself
and others, blaming others, not letting go, not enough sleep, not
enough love for yourself, or time alone is all stress. Stress can
also be caused by trying to control others because of the lack of
control you feel you have over yourself. Fear is stress. Fear of
death, of the unknown, fear of being alone is stress.
