A communal poem composed spontaneously
by the students of AIMHA in their February pathology
class on immunity and auto-immune dis-ease. Health
The cleanliness of my soul Depicts the lightness of
my heart. We are all explorers in our own little
way, And we don't want to let this opportunity slip away.
Like the ocean, Continue to journey and flow, Dancing
with anger and laying with sadness Embracing it
all
and letting it go, Understanding you can not control
everything in life Even though you'd like to. You're
healthy because you're Physically, emotionally
and spiritually fit. To accept change with curiosity and
not hate, To flow like a river ever enjoying the
journey,
The choosing of joy regardless of circumstance,
The inner bliss of a soul at peace.
Have you ever encountered
a situation, experience, or event which seemed
to position you perfectly on your
path? The experience which
helped me to grow more fully into myself was completing massage
therapy school with AIMHA. It was through this
school I learned about my body,
its anatomy & physiology, as well as the mental, emotional,
and spiritual components. I love the art of massage, and providing
a
valuable service. During training it was repeatedly stressed, that
we therapists must be healthy and grounded in order to provide
the best possible massage. We were encouraged at AIMHA to take care
of ourselves, our mind, body and spirit. To believe in ourselves
and remove limitations we place on ourselves. It was through this
holistic lifestyle, and encouragement of a fellow student, that
I decided to sign up to run the December 2004 Honolulu Marathon.
I trained with a fantastic group and completed the race in the
top 5% for my age group. Thank you AIMHA for helping me grow and
acomplish
many of my goals and dreams. Aloha!
Carrie
Attending AIMHA was a life-moving event for
me. The experience moves me forward on my life path;
new knowledge of body work and therapy while enhancing
my skills in energy work. It stimulated my own self-care,
developing the practitioner. One of my goals is to
share this with my fellow nursing community. Thank you, Joyce Wong RNC, CPON, CHTP
At AIMHA, I learned not only the technique of massage,
but also the importance of centering, grounding,
breathing and radical self care. This is the most
interesting part of this school. Also, there were
many workshops to chose from. HMR, Theta Healing,
Chi Nei Sang, and Zen Shiatsu were some that I
found to be most interesting. This was a great
opportunity to acquire knowledge and explore myself.
I want to say "thank you" to all the
instructors for all the strong curiosity and high
energy the possess. This energy will be felt by
any one that attends AIMHA. This is the best place
to improve or restart ones life. Aloha, Hiroyuki
To begin massage school was a thought I replayed
in my mind every time I'd think of what path
I really wanted to explore in my life. But
for various reasons I procrastinated and involved
myself in endless other projects all of which
did not wholly encompass or represent my truth
and vision. To look back on it now, I see that
it was the birth of my son that helped me decide
to pursue what I really dreamed of. I completed
my Level 1 schooling and planned to jump right
into my apprenticeship, but life had it otherwise.
I really needed to be home to care for my son
who has special needs. All for the best though.
I kept my dream strong somewhere inside of
me in a little corner of truth. Now a year
and half later Iíve begun my apprenticeship
in this new program that is still evolving
and is just what I envisioned. There truly
is nothing as profound as the energy and healing
exchange in touch. I have found in myself a
sense of contentment and completeness, and
a great excitement of all there is to look
forward to in the future. Mahalo,

• Marvelous!!
He is the best therapist I’ve ever had here.
Extremely talented. He is very able to feel the
body's energy needs (muscle knots tightness)
.
• Exceeded all expectations. Your intention and warm
spirit came through beautifully.
• Very tuned into my specific problems-great communication-very
caring-one of the best massages I have ever had.
• Great pressure good flow. You made me feel like a
queen!
• The massage was the best I have had since I arrived
on the island and that includes all I have had from
LMT's
• I loved the personal attention. I was massaged physically,
mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Thank you,
it was exactly what I needed
• I loved the obvious concern the therapist showed
toward me.Your touch is magical and healing
• I fell asleep, woke up and wasn't sure where I was
and then I just smiled and breathed.
• The loving approach, and educating me about muscles
I can stretch on my own.
• I felt special, your energy and flow, the rhythm
you had is so relaxing and peaceful
• Thoroughness working on each limb; stretches; flow
was excellent. Your spirit seemed to know exactly
what needed to be done.
•
Incredible. Great attention to all details – everything
that I wanted you to do was covered! Was exceptional
for my body! Thank you! I really appreciate it.
• Awesome. She was one of the best massage people I
have had and I get massages weekly.
Hi Mark,
Having been cared for by a professional physical
therapist for some time, my expectations in getting
a massage from an intern were not very high. However,
you were professional, caring and I felt comfortable.
I was disappointed to find that you were leaving
soon and therefore would not be available in the
future. Thank you very much for a successful session.
I wish you the best in any future plans you may
have for a career in massage therapy. Aloha,
Denise Wong
American Institute of Massage Therapy (now
doing business as Aloha Institute of Massage
and Healing Arts). in Hawaii trains the
students to conduct business in a professional
manner, while addressing
the needs of the patient. There is great care
in making sure the patient not only was satisfied
with the treatment but also in asking for suggestions
or improvements in form of a questionnaire
after each session. If and when the patient
needs particular attention, instructors are
present to give special insight to the student.
I think students who study at the American
Institute of Massage Therapy (now doing business
as Aloha Institute of Massage and Healing Arts)
will make great professionals when they graduate
from
the school.
It is a
great place to have a massage for the clean,
quiet and peaceful setting promotes healing
and well being. Carol K. Sakihara
Hi, Elizabeth,
We are home, since Wednesday, still weary after a long trip but full of good
memories from our three weeks in Hawaii.
I want you to know how important AIMHA's contribution was to my vacation. The
opportunity to meet you and to be worked on by 5 of your therapists was one of
the high points of my time in Hawaii and THE high point of my Oahu segment.
Your selection of therapists -- Jo Ann, Christie, Cindy, Kim and Colleen -- couldn't
have been better. Collectively and individually, they gave me five of the nicest
massages I can remember ever receiving. And I've had a few, as you know.
From the
very first time I walked in the door (well, I take
that back -- really, from the very first email
response I received from
you to my original inquiry) -- I felt a strong connection with
AIMHA. And that sense of connection only increased as I got to know
and be worked on by the five therapists you had scheduled for me.
So I consider it a stroke of luck or maybe something divinely inspired
that I managed to discover you and your group of therapists-in-training.
In any event, no trip to Hawaii from now on will be complete without
a series of visits to that now-familiar location on Oneawa St.
I'm already thinking about next year's trip. So keep your scheduling
book handy!
Lastly, please again thank my five therapists -- Jo Ann, Christie,
Cindy, Kim, Colleen -- for the unforgettable impressions they made
on me. They were superb in every way -- a credit to themselves
and to AIMHA. I kept thinking, they can't just be students (or in
the case of Christie, a one-year
veteran)! And like I said to you last Saturday, it was in the midst
of my massage with either Christie or Cindy that I wondered aloud
if this was the way I should feel just before going to heaven!
Guess you get my message -- I'll be back for lots more! Aloha and then some...
