George Kon, Ms.T.
Theory and Practice of Massages
|
|
Raised
on a sugar plantation on the island of Maui, George
Kon went to school barefoot in Puunene's red dirt.
He co-founded the Iowa Theatre
Lab, an experimental theatre company in the middle of the Iowa cornfields.
Returning to O'ahu via NYU's Experimental Theatre Wing
to co-found the Alliance for Drama
Education where he currently directs the low tech, high zest T-Shirt Theatre
in rough neck inner city Kalihi. In an attempt to run a stream thru his life
in 1989, George studied with master educator Elizabeth Reveley to get certified
in massage and ended up adopting her mission and joining the talented staff
at AIMHA, where he guides Level 1's hands on Swedish
massage. At Farrington, George
teaches a short course in seated massage for the state's first Health Academy.
Since many high school students barely speak to their parents, let alone touch
them, he takes great pleasure in assigning this subversive act of nurturing.
